February comes to an end

February was an interesting month. Some pretty warm days - we hit 50 something I believe. I was sick for a good part of the month and am still dealing with bronchitis - so I haven't been on the bike much, which has me feeling a bit like a sloth!

Hopefully March will be better to us. I think we have found a place to move. The house is just too expensive with the way jobs are right now. Bob's had his hours cut in half since right around Thanksgiving - and they were shut down for a full week too. That has made just the basics (I mean bare basics) like food & gas in the truck to get back and forth to work hard to deal with. So, we have been looking for a cheaper place. I hate the idea of moving ...in and of itself I despise packing up all my crap - lugging it across town and then unpacking it all! The kids will get to stay at the same school, which made our choices very limited.

Anyway, I should find out more this coming week. We'll see.

I'm heading out with Gaven in a little bit to get him a tie...he has a big thing at church this weekend and wants to have a real tie - not a baby tie (clip on)...so, we are going to go and find one!

That's about it - hopefully it warms up soon and I can get back on the bike - tired of feeling like a slug!

Happy Riding!

Sick enough for the doctor to tell me to rest at home

Well Monday I went back to my doctor because I still hadn't knocked that cold. So, it seems that I have a pretty bad case of bronchitis and he wrote a note and told me to stay off work for the rest of the week...what the heck?

Thankfully I do have sick pay benefits so that will help!

I am currently enjoying a regimine of sleeping, watching romantic movies that make me cry, playing on the internet, occasionally eating and coughing to the point of vomitting on occasion. Fun times!

I really hope I'm better by the weekend. We are having visitors so I don't want to be sick for that.

New Tattoo

Well for about a year now I've been saying I was going to get a new tattoo- this one shown below. I did on Valentine's day.
This pic was taken a couple hours after that Tat was done - so - it's still a bit bloody etc. Below the pic of the actual tat is the pic that the tat is based off of.
Some people (my mother included) think I've lost my ever lovin' mind - however, first and foremost I love tattoo's (other than the really gory one's or the demon/skulls/ etc), second, cycling has been the 1 thing that really pulled me out of a funk that I had been in. Cycling has given me a new outlook on so many things - it's such a part of my life and I don't see it ever not being - well barring any accidents that leave me unable to cycle - so- this tattoo is a symbol of the hope and joy that this sport has brought to me and a reminder that no matter how bad I'm feeling I can jump on my bike and ride off and forget all my problems for a little bit, or mull them over and come up with answers because clarity is something I am able to find when I'm on my bike.

GLORIOUS, AMAZING, PHENOMINAL

These are the words running through my head as I consider my commute into work today. The temps were just shy of 50 degrees Farenheit. The wind was at my back most of the ride. The sun was shining, all the snow is melting and I only had one place that I had to stop and walk the bike across because of ice still on the ground.

I swear being able to ride like that this morning was a renewal of my spirit, which has been a bit down in the dumps lately. I really needed a beautiful day to make me feel like myself again.

I'm strongly considering bailing out of work at about 2 p.m. and grabbing the road bike then heading out towards Waterman. The ride back will be amazing with the wind at my back.

Okay, better go - need to work but had to share.

Safe and Happy Riding!

Checking in....

Well things have been quiet...except for the extreme amount of coughing going on in my home.
I was sick all week...and I do mean sick! Running a temperature (102.5 - 103), coughing, bloody noses, it was grand! I won't even get into the stomach issues.

I did go to work - I did feel like crap and I can't say that I managed to accomplish too much!

I am finally feeling better today.

The temps were nice this weekend (today is overcast but still pretty nice). I'll be riding into work tomorrow. My husband will be home....and while I'd love for him to do housework and make dinner I doubt that will happen. You see, he is laid off for a week (I hope no longer than that). So, we'll see just how bored he is at home - but I'm sure he will be perfectly content lying in bed, sleeping, watching t.v. and eating. If I did that for a week I'd gain 20 lbs...he will maybe gain 2! Although, I doubt that I could sit completely idle for that long...but my husband is a special breed! :)~

Today and I got up and heated that wonderful wax that Jennifer recomended. I was a bit leary of going through with waxing anything on me (my mom, the beautician, usually waxes my eyebrows for me)...inflicting the pain upon myself and then having to continue inflicting pain is usually not something I enjoy. I have to say though that this stuff was amazingly simple to use, no wax strips to get stuck on anything, the wax that you yanked off wasn't too painful so going for the next strip wasn't difficult to do and it did a superb job of making my eyebrows look like two seperate and thin lines. HURRAY! Hats off to Jennifer for the wonderful suggestion.

Well, I'm at the library with Cassy and Gaven and will be leaving shortly to go finish reading book 3 of the Twilight Series, which I am enjoying emensely.

Oh wait - one more thing. I think I'm going to splurge on myself and go get my next (#3) tattoo next week. I know what I want...I'll keep it a surprise...but I love it and can't wait to have it. It will not be inconspicuous as my other 2 have been but it isn't anything shocking...especially considering my favorite past time.

Safe and Happy Riding....I'll post a pick of it as soon as I have it!

I really dislike winter....

Well, the bike riding has not been going well this year. I've been plagued with flat tires, ice and snow and extremely cold temps. Put them all together and that makes for a bad showing in January for biking.

So, 7 commutes total this year so far...lots of to work commutes but got picked up instead of riding home. If the weather and flat tires weren't enough of a reason for my lack of commutes we can take into account all the visits to doctors with the kids and myself that I've had to go on this year.

I'm currently nursing a cold, which I'm quite certain our receptionist gave me.

I'm also wishing this guy at the library who is sharing a table with me would leave so that I could plug in my computer before the battery dies - but Idon't see that happening since he looks like he's here to stay a while...nice and comfy with his papers all spread out and his headphones on! lol...my cord isn't long enough to go around him and still get to the plug in! :( ggrrr.

My dear husband hasn't called me back after saying he had been pulled over and needed to know where the insurance card was ...how the hell would I know - I haven't driven that thing in...MONTHS! Where did you put it? Sheesh! And then people wonder why I am this way! LOL

Yeah I know this post is totally random and all over the place but that's the same way my brain has been...is...always is(?)...heh!

Okay, going now...computer battery is slipping into the land of no return without a plug in. Have a super day!

Ride safe!
