Another day at the hospital

This morning at 5 a.m. we had to leave to head to the hospital in Rockford (Swedish American Hospital http://www.swedishamerican.org/).

To update:

September 4th Bob (my husband) had a doctor's visit - at the visit the doctor found 5 masses in his neck.

Since then he has had:
A CT Scan of the neck and chest (which showed that his neck and chest are full of masses 'too numerous to count'.

A CT Scan of the abdomon and pelvis (came back clear)

MRI of the brain (We knew there was nothing there to begin with :)

A biopsy of one of the masses in his neck (which resulted in an overnight stay in the hospital because they had to put in a drainage tube)

a PET Scan of the body

A Bone Marrow Biopsy (results will be in on October 6)

Today he is having a Port put in so that they can use that for his Chemo. http://www.facebook.com/l.php?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.atlasofpelvicsurgery.com%2F10MalignantDisease%2F2SubclavianPort-A-Cath%2Fcha10sec2.html&h=5efca20fc2c5946f61ebe46f1ef47641

He has been seen numerous times now by the Oncologist, ENT's, and Surgeon's as well as our Primary Doctor.

Results thus far
Hodgkin's lymphoma http://www.cancer.gov/cancertopics/types/hodgkin has been diagnosed. As long as the bone marrow biopsy comes back clear then it's going to be a stage 2 B - which is good (if anything about any cancer is good) - the prognosis is pretty good.

He will start chemo next week and then we are looking at 6 months of chemo (ABVD http://www.lymphomainfo.net/therapy/chemotherapy/abvd.html ).

So, that's the latest. Obviously stressful around here. He is off work - possibly for the entire 6 months. Waiting to find out about disability and such - as with him not working things just got ugly.

No cycling to speak of, although I really could use a nice warm fall afternoon on the bike to just ride and forget for a couple of hours.

Happy Riding to my friends still out there - hope to see you on the roads soon!
