The deep freeze may be over!

It seems that the deep freeze may be over - for now atleast! Today as I drove into work the temperature was 12 degrees Farenheit. I'm hoping it stays that way. I was unsure of what the temps were going to be and I have many errands to run today all over town and well I was just being a plain ole wussy! I drove! Well, technically I made Cassy drive me because if Bob gets called in today he has to head into work so I didn't want to keep the burban.
Desperately trying to find a place that does wire binding...I should just give up and buy the planner that I want...I will probably spend the same amount of money! HEH!
John D. and I were chatting yesterday (on the computer) and it seems we have all been fighting the winter weight gain and the lack of motivation that some of us seem to be bogged down by in the winter time. I hate that and I think the answer is probably to join the gym in the winter and go there right after work and run or pedal.
All right, I've got to scram...lot's to do! Still planning my retreat and all that good stuff!

Portuguese Wine

This weekend my cousin Ruben was here from Terceira, Azores, Portugal. Putting that all in there so that people can look it up if necessary.

So...he brought lots of Portuguese wine with him...I LOVE IT! All of it! He also made a dish, which I can't spell, meat cooked in wine (heehee) Alcatras...(yeah I butchered that)...I'll defer to John to tell me how that's really spelled!

All in all, I drank WAY too much, ate ENTIRELY too much and had a great time doing it.

Will post pictures in probably a week when I get them - my camera wasn't working right so I have to wait for them to be emailed to me.

Happy riding...we are under a blizzard warning! Fun times!

Waiting for dawn to break

Here I sit on the couch waiting for the dawn to break so that I can head into work on the Wingra.
Lots to do today, but going to make sure I'm out of there by 3 p.m. so I can go riding this evening. I'm hoping for very little wind...heading into my fourth year of cycling I still dread wind! Last year I got over my aversion to the hills; they come to an end sooner or later and you get the joy of a downhill - but the wind still kicks my butt and makes me feel like I'm getting nowhere fast and fighting a losing battle! Maybe it is mainly a psychological thing!

Ushering in a New Year!

Happy New Year EVERYONE!

The new year was rung in without me being awake to usher it in. I was in bed at 9 p.m. last night. I was back up at 3 a.m.

Worked all day today. It was not too bad - I had a lot of work today and the place was not very busy so I got a bunch of my work done so it was nice. Honestly, the new year isn't a big occasion for my family so getting double time for 9 hours was well worth it.

Following work I drove home, grabbed jeans and a sweatshirt and drove over to mom's house with the kids and Bob. Mom prepared a new years dinner for us, which was great! Nothing special as far as food goes but super yummy!

Now I'm home and heading to bed soon. I'm tired - heading into work tomorrow on the bike and then coming home, grabbing the road bike and heading up to the shop to meet John and ride 15 - 20 miles which will put me way ahead of where I was last year ... I believe I only put in about 10 miles maybe 20 in all of January 08. Considering my goal for 09 on mileage is to hit 3200 miles it will be nice to be a bit ahead.

Okay, gonna go now!

Happy Riding!
